Shoutout to that time Taco Bell's mobile app just straight up lied about prices

Last Saturday I tried to order the $5 Build Your Own Cravings Box through the app, but when I hit checkout it jumped to $8.49 with some 'convenience fee' they hid in the fine print. Customer support on Twitter said they'd fix it but 4 days later still nothing. Has anyone else got burned by fast food apps pulling this bait and switch nonsense?

Dude you're totally right, I used to be one of those people who was like "the app is fine, just order ahead" but nah, this changed my mind hard. Last week I tried to get the $6 nacho fries combo on the app and it showed $6 on the menu, but when I went to pay it was $8.30 with their "processing fee" and some random tax that didn't match what I'd pay in store. I honestly felt so dumb for defending them before, like I was just making excuses for a corporation that doesn't care. It's wild how they can say one price and then charge another right in the same app with no warning.

I read a thing last week about how Taco Bell's app fees are basically a hidden way to bump up prices without changing the menu board. Some consumer reporter broke down how the "processing fee" is like $1.50 to $2 on most orders, and the tax calculation is just wrong because they use the app's headquarters address instead of the actual store. Makes you wonder how many people don't notice and just pay it.

Hold up though, I get why people are mad but honestly the app is still way better for me. I dunno about yalls locations but at my Taco Bell the drive thru takes like 20 minutes minimum and they mess up my order half the time. The fee is annoying but I save way more using the app rewards and customizing stuff without having to yell through a speaker. Plus if the tax thing is real they gotta fix that but I just add it up in my head before I pay, its not that hard to spot a $2 difference. I think people are just looking for something to be mad about honestly.
