Had to pick between a $50 apology gift card and a public shoutout from a brand that ruined my dinner

Long story short, a meal kit company sent me a box with spoiled shrimp last Tuesday. I chose the public apology on their Instagram page and honestly, my friends roasted me for days and the card would've been way quieter. Would you take the cash or the clout in that situation?

Took the cash once for a messed up order, way less drama and I got free dinner.

Yeah, I've seen a few people talk about that actually... seems like a lot of places will give you a refund or a free replacement if you complain, but taking the cash is way simpler. @finleyh89 I read somewhere that some restaurants have a policy where they'll do that to avoid bad reviews, so they'd rather just hand you the cash than deal with the hassle. Makes sense to me, less back and forth for everyone.

My 25 year old self would've just left a bad review and huffed about it, but honestly this makes a lot more sense to me now (especially the part about avoiding the drama). The restaurant gets to move on without a headache and you get a free meal out of it, which is a fair trade for a messed up order in my book. I guess I never thought about it as a win-win situation until reading this thread, so thanks for changing my mind on that one.
