Two brands messed up last month, one said sorry in a 20 second clip and the other hid behind a press release, guess which one I forgave
When that snack brand in Ohio got caught using fake reviews last month they posted a shaky phone video from their CEO just saying sorry with no script, and the other brand with the same problem just dropped a statement on their site. I watched both blow up on my feed and the video one got 2 million views while the statement one got maybe 40 comments, most of them angry. Why do we forgive the messy human apology but not the clean corporate one, is it just me?
Wait, the other brand just quietly put a statement on their site with no video, no face, nothing? That blows my mind. I get that a scripted press release feels "safer" for legal reasons but it's basically them saying we're sorry you caught us.
