Saw a brand fake a crisis apology with AI hearts and it made me leave their Discord server after 3 days
was watching a skincare company's community manager use a bot to reply sorry to every criticism in a 200-person chat, then they deleted the thread once people noticed the same heart emoji pattern, so has anyone else walked away from a brand's official forum over that manufactured vibe?
Deleted my own account from a candle brand's forum last year for the same reason. But honestly, what did people expect from a 200 person chat run by a company? That tiny space was never a real community, it was a support ticket line with emojis. A bot saying sorry with hearts is lazy, sure, but a human saying sorry with hearts while reading off a script is the same thing with extra steps. The fake vibe did not start when they added AI, it started when a business decided a chat room was a marketing channel. Walking away makes sense, just do not act like it was ever your space to begin with.
