Just realized comparing two pr agencies side by side is the only way to go

I hired a small agency for my cleaning business launch back in March. They charged $1,500 a month and got me one tiny blog mention in 3 months. Then I tried a different firm that does hourly consulting instead of retainers. Spent $600 total and got picked up by a local news site and two niche home blogs. Has anyone else found that paying per project beats monthly retainers for small biz?

I was totally in the retainer camp until about six months ago... $2k a month for a PR agency and all I got was crickets. Switched to a flat fee for a local launch and the results were way better.

saw this thing online about how retainer models basically just pay for agencies to sit on their hands and wait for you to ask for something. flat fee forces them to actually deliver or they dont get paid again. makes sense why your local launch popped off better.
