Had a chat with my accountant this morning that shook up my brand loyalty

I was telling her about how I always buy the same mop heads from a big cleaning supply brand, and she asked me if I ever checked their parent company's history with labor disputes. Turns out they had a pretty big scandal back in 2018 involving wage theft that I never even heard about. Has anyone else found out something about a brand they trusted by just asking the wrong person at the right time?

Wage theft was the scandal, not a labor dispute. Those are two different things legally speaking. Still sketchy though, good on your accountant for tipping you off.

Used to think knowing a brand's public image was enough but this kind of thing makes you realize how much goes on behind the scenes. Definitely reevaluating who gets my money now.
