Got roasted by a customer for my logo redesign and had to backtrack hard

Last spring I did a full rebrand for my small fitness coaching page. Spent like 3 weeks on a super minimalist logo with this weird modern font. First comment on my launch post was from this lady who said it looked like a medical supply company logo. Ouch. I got defensive at first but then I looked at it again and she was totally right. It had zero personality and nothing about fitness or energy. I scrapped the whole thing and went back to something with a bold dumbbell icon and warmer colors. The engagement jumped way up after that. Has anyone else had a client or customer point out something obvious that you somehow missed?

Three weeks for a logo seems like overthinking a gym page.

Totally agree with you. I mean, I spent maybe one evening messing around on Canva for my own gym's logo and it came out fine. Three weeks feels like someone's just avoiding hitting send or something. I guess some people really get stuck on every little detail, but for a gym page it's probably not that deep. Like, just pick something and move on, you know?

Wait but wouldn't you want someone who cares enough to obsess over details for something that's literally your brand's first impression? Idk, three weeks might mean they're actually putting thought into making it look pro instead of slapping something together.
