A customer's sharp comment about my pressure washing flyers made me rethink my whole brand.
About two years back, I left a flyer on a door in a nice part of town. The homeowner called me and said, 'Your flyer looks like a coupon for a pizza place. It doesn't tell me why I should trust you with my house.' That hit home. I changed my flyers to show clear before-and-after photos of my actual work, with my phone number big and bold. Now I get calls from people who already know what I can do. Has anyone else had a simple piece of feedback completely change how you present your business?

Honestly? Flyers are dead. That pizza coupon look got you a call, which is more than most get. My buddy still uses them and swears by it. Sometimes cheap and simple cuts through the noise better than a fancy photo.

That pizza coupon story gets passed around a lot, but it feels like survivor bias. For every one that works, a thousand just get recycled. Saw a stack of them left on a bus seat last week, all for different local businesses. The real noise now is digital clutter, not print quality. A basic, clean website or a targeted social ad seems to reach people where they actually are.

Used to think they were totally useless. Seeing that coupon actually work makes a strong case for keeping things basic. Guess you can't argue with results.
