My old boss in Dallas laughed at me for asking sponsors to pay half up front, now I get it
Back in 2021 I had a $2,500 deal with a supplement brand and my boss at the time told me to always ask for 50% up front, I thought it was paranoid and never did it. Fast forward to last spring, a different brand owed me $1,800 for three videos and just went dark after I sent the second one, no reply, account deleted. Turns out the owner had done the same thing to at least four other creators I talked to in a Discord, same playbook every time, get the content then vanish. Now I ask for half up front on anything over $500 and you would not believe how many brands suddenly "need to check with finance" and never get back to me. Anyone else notice the ones who push back hardest on that are almost always the ones who were never gonna pay?
