The city planner at the Bothell open house told me the 522 project would be done by last summer
Went to that Bothell Community Board open house about the Bothell-Everett Highway project back in early 2023, and a city planner named Dale was standing by the big map. I asked him point blank when the construction near the 522 interchange would wrap up. He laughed and said summer 2024, maybe a little sooner. I took him at his word and planned my whole commute around it, even rented a place off 228th thinking the backups would be short lived. Well, here we are and crews are still out there most mornings, and the detour signs are basically furniture now. I am not mad at Dale, he probably believed it when he said it, but it makes me question every timeline I hear at these meetings. Does anyone know if there is a new target date, and has anyone else around 228th changed their driving habits because of this?
Dale gave you the classic planner timeline. When they say "maybe sooner" you know it's already late. My buddy lives off 228th and he started leaving at 5:40am just to beat the backup at the interchange. Now he just takes 405 and loops around, adds like 15 mins but at least it's not stop and go. Word around the coffee shop is fall 2025 but who knows. Those detour signs should get their own zip code at this point.
