Noticed something odd at the Bothell Landing park gathering last Saturday

Was at the Bothell Landing community picnic last weekend and saw maybe 12 people show up out of the 50 who RSVP'd online, anyone else noticing a gap between what folks say they'll do and what actually happens at these board events?

Hold up, @lauras83, is this really that big of a deal? People RSVP and then ghost, happens with every potluck and park day ever. It's just a picnic, not a town hall vote.

Jumping in here because honestly this exact thing happened with our neighborhood beach cleanup last spring. Tbh we had 45 people RSVP and maybe 10 showed up, and I was the one stuck organizing all the gloves and trash bags. Ngl it made me not want to bother with community events anymore because you just can't count on those numbers at all.

Oh man, I totally used to roll my eyes at people complaining about low turnout at these things. I was always like "well if you want people to come, just make the event better." But after watching the same thing happen at the North Creek trail cleanup last month - 30 people said they'd help, maybe 8 actually showed up - I totally get it now. It's not about the event being bad or anything. People just overcommit online and then life happens, or they forget, or they don't feel like it when the day comes. It really changed how I see those RSVP numbers, they're basically just suggestions at this point.
