Guy at the Bothell library meeting told me my comment on the agenda item was 'out of order'
Went to the Bothell Community Board meeting last Tuesday at the library on Main St to speak about the crosswalk near the middle school, and this one guy kept interrupting me to say I was out of order. I had signed up for the public comment slot, waited 40 minutes, and got maybe 30 seconds before he started waving his hands and pointing at the rules sheet. Turns out he was just a resident like me, not even on the board, but he acted like he ran the place. I never got to finish my point about the cars speeding through there at drop-off. Has anyone else dealt with someone like this at the meetings, and does the board actually care if random people police the comment time?
That is so annoying and I am sorry that happened to you. The same thing happened to me at a city council meeting last year when I tried to talk about the pothole situation on my street, this older gentleman kept telling me my time was up even though the timer had not even started. He was not staff, not elected, just some guy who shows up early and sits in the front row like he owns the place. What gets me is these folks never actually speak on the issues themselves, they just want to play referee. You waited 40 minutes for your turn and the crosswalk thing is a real safety problem, not some small complaint. The board should be telling people like him to sit down and let residents have their full time.
