Found a cheap fix for squeaky porch boards that actually held up...

Had this one spot on my front deck near the railing that would squeak every time someone stepped on it. Drove me nuts for months. Tried a bunch of stuff - WD40, tightening screws, even pulled one board up to check underneath. Nothing worked. Then a customer mentioned they used construction adhesive injected under the board with a syringe. Picked up a tube at Home Depot for like 6 bucks, filled a cheap syringe, and squeezed it into the gap between the board and the joist. Put a cinder block on it for 24 hours. It's been 3 months now and not a peep. Has anyone else tried something like that on their decking?

Oh man, I did this exact thing on my back patio steps last year! That spot by the bottom riser would screech like a dying animal every time someone came in from the grill. I used a construction adhesive syringe too, but I actually drilled two tiny holes in the board first and injected it that way. Then I covered the holes with wood filler. It's been a solid 14 months now and COMPLETELY silent. I was shocked it actually worked for that long, honestly figured it'd just crack and fail after a winter freeze. My neighbor tried the same trick on his deck and it's held up through two rainy seasons now.

Drilled holes in the board first, that's a next-level move I never would have thought of. I keep expecting mine to give out any day now, so hearing that it held for 14 months is actually encouraging. Good to know it might survive a winter too, thanks for the tip @the_adam.
