Did anyone else switch from paper flyers to the Bothell Facebook group?

We used to staple flyers to the board at the library for our annual block party, but this year I went all in on the community Facebook group instead. Only 12 people confirmed online versus the 30 we usually get from paper. Which method actually works better for you all?

...and that's exactly what happened to me with our church potluck last fall. I thought I was being modern and smart going all digital. Nope. I posted in the group, shared it in the comments of a few related posts, even paid to boost the thing. Got like 15 people who said they were coming and maybe 8 showed up. The year before with just a stack of those neon green flyers at the library and the grocery store we had over 40. I think there's something about seeing a physical piece of paper taped up somewhere that makes people actually remember it exists. It's like the internet version goes in through one eye and out the other.

Oh man I feel this so hard. I did the exact same thing for our neighborhood garage sale last spring. Took down all my paper signs and just blasted the Bothell group and the Buy Nothing group and got maybe 10 people compared to the 50 plus we used to get from those neon poster boards at the QFC and the library. The thing is, I think people are just scrolling past Facebook posts so fast now. Like they see a flyer in their feed and they probably think "oh that looks cool" and then keep scrolling and forget about it forever. But with a physical paper flyer, you're actually stopping and reading it while you wait for your coffee or whatever. I'm actually going back to paper next year but maybe doing both just in case.
