Debate: Should the community board approve the new 5-story apartment building on Main Street or keep the old parking lot?

I noticed at the last meeting some folks argued the building will bring 200 new residents and boost local business, while others said it will mess up traffic and block sunlight for the houses behind it. The developer says they'll add 50 parking spots underground but neighbors say that's not enough for the extra cars. Which side makes more sense to you - the growth push or the traffic concerns?

My buddy Dave lives two blocks from that lot and his morning commute is ALREADY a nightmare. Last Tuesday he sat through three light cycles just to get through the Main and Oak intersection. He said if they add 200 more people he might as well start biking to work in the rain. The 50 parking spots they mentioned? Dave counted cars parked on both sides of his street at 2 AM last week and it was already PACKED. I get wanting more shops and stuff but nobody's gonna walk to a coffee shop if they spend 20 minutes looking for a spot to park their car first.

Your buddy Dave's got a real point there... nobody's gonna enjoy a nice coffee shop if they're already fuming from circling the block for fifteen minutes. The parking situation always gets overlooked in these development plans, feels like they just assume everyone will magically start walking or taking the bus. Hope someone on the city council actually listens to folks like Dave before they greenlight this thing.
