Chose a gravel bike over a road bike for my commute to Bothell and now I'm questioning everything

I picked the gravel bike for the potholes on 522 but after three months the extra weight is killing my legs on the hills, anybody else regret trading speed for durability?

522 hills are brutal, you need a granny gear not a lighter bike.

Oh man, @morgan.logan is completely right. I switched to a 1x setup on my hardtail and regretted it immediately on those climbs. Now I'm back to a 2x and just spin my way up without burning out.
