Can we talk about the noise at the Bothell community board meetings?

I went to the last one on Tuesday night and I swear I could hear the HVAC unit in the back louder than half the speakers. It's that old building on Main Street near the library. I tried to ask a question about the new park project and the guy next to me couldn't even hear me. Has anyone else had trouble with the sound system in there or is it just me?

Used to just shrug off the old building noise as part of the charm, but that Tuesday night meeting changed my mind. I was sitting in the second row and still had to lean in to catch half the zoning board comments because the AC unit was kicking on every five minutes. My neighbor two seats down gave up trying to ask her question about the dog park hours and just wrote it on a napkin for the clerk. The HVAC hum isn't just background noise anymore, it's actively drowning out people's questions on stuff like the new park sidewalks. Your mileage may vary on how much it bugs you, but after that night I'm definitely in the "fix the sound system" camp.

Oh man, you are so right about that HVAC unit. I was there Tuesday night too and sat in the back row near the door, and I could barely hear a thing from the speakers. It was like the air conditioner was competing with every person who stood up to talk. I had to ask the person next to me what the zoning guy said three times, and we both just laughed because it was hopeless. That old building really needs some sound panels or a newer system because it's ruining the whole meeting for everyone.
