TIL a local nursery owner told me I was watering my succulents all wrong
Honestly, I've been killing succulents for years without knowing why. A guy at Green Thumb Nursery in Austin pointed out my leaves were mushy from overwatering. He said I should only water them once every two weeks during winter, not every few days like I was doing. I switched to that routine and changed to a gritty soil mix with more perlite. Now my echeverias actually hold their shape and don't rot at the base anymore. Has anyone else gotten similar advice that totally saved their plants?

Heard my friend killed a jade plant by watering it every day in summer.

Totally feel you on the overwatering thing, but jade plants are actually pretty thirsty in summer heat - they like a good soak when the soil's dry, not a daily sprinkle that just wets the top.
