Spent 4 months killing my calathea before I figured out the tap water was the whole problem
I kept blaming the light and the humidity and moved that poor plant to 6 different spots in my apartment. Leaves kept going crispy brown at the edges no matter what I did. Then a lady at the plant swap in Portland asked what I was watering it with, and I said tap water like it was obvious. She told me calatheas hate the minerals and chlorine in most city water, so I switched to filtered water I let sit out overnight. New leaves have been perfect for 2 months now, has anyone else had a plant that was just picky about water the whole time?
