Shoutout to the spider plant cutting that took me 5 months to root in a jar of tap water
Back in March I snipped a baby off my mom's spider plant, stuck it in a mason jar on the kitchen sill, and figured I'd have roots in two weeks like everyone says. Nothing happened for almost 5 months, just one sad little nub, and I finally tested my tap water with a $12 kit from the hardware store here in Tulsa. Turns out our water is really hard and the chlorine was stalling it out, so I switched to rainwater off the porch and it rooted in 9 days. My mom just laughed and said hers root in a glass of water by the sink, no fuss. Has anyone else had a cutting sit there forever until they changed something about the water?
