PSA: That orchid spot at the Denver Botanic Gardens made me rethink humidity trays
I was at the tropical house last Saturday and saw this massive Cattleya just dripping with roots sitting in a plain clay saucer. The keeper told me they never use pebbles or water trays, just mist twice a day. Now I am ditching my humidity setup and trying high misting instead. Anyone else given up on the tray method for something different?

That "ditch the extras" mindset keeps popping up everywhere lately.

Oh man, I feel this SO much. Everywhere I look people are acting like having a hobby or a little extra something is somehow bad. Like I saw someone get laughed at for having a small collection of vintage lunchboxes and honestly it made me sad. Why does everything have to be stripped down to the bare minimum? My neighbor just got rid of half her books because someone told her "minimalism is better" and she cried about it. It's like we're not allowed to have things that just make us happy anymore.

Yeah that "ditch the extras" thing is kinda sad to see. People act like you gotta strip everything down to survive but what's the point if you can't have small joys? My neighbor collects those little refrigerator magnets from every state she visits and honestly that's way more interesting than some boring white wall. Let people enjoy their stuff.
