PSA: I almost killed my whole collection by sticking to my old watering schedule
For years, I watered all my houseplants every single Sunday, no matter what. It was just my routine. Then last summer, my new monstera started getting yellow leaves and I couldn't figure out why. I finally bought a cheap moisture meter for like $12, and it showed the soil was still soaking wet days after watering. Turns out, the light in my new apartment is way lower than my old place, so the plants just weren't drinking as much. I switched to checking each plant with the meter before I even touch the watering can. It's been about 8 months now, and I haven't lost a single plant to root rot since. Has anyone else had to completely change their routine after a move or a big seasonal shift?

Wait, moisture meters can be hit or miss though. I still stick my finger in the dirt to double check.

That "every single Sunday" thing was my exact routine too until a moisture meter saved my peace of mind.
