Paid $45 for a "rare" orchid bulb on Etsy and got a bag of dirt with a sprout of crabgrass
Six months ago I saw a listing for a ghost orchid bulb with 800 five star reviews. The seller had photos of a stunning white flower and promised it would bloom within a year. I figured $45 was worth the experiment. Box showed up, bulb was basically the size of a peanut and the soil smelled like a wet basement. Now it's just a pot of crabgrass that grows faster than my actual lawn. I keep it on the kitchen window sill as a reminder. Anyone else get burned by a fancy plant listing from a seller with fake reviews?

Got burned the same way last spring. Paid $60 for some "blue" rose seeds that turned out to be nothing but radish sprouts. Seller had a thousand reviews all saying the same copy-paste garbage. Made the mistake of checking the reviewer profiles, they all joined the same week. The dirt stunk like rotten eggs too. Now the thing just sits on my porch growing weeds I have to pull every few days. Worst part is I can't even leave a bad review because the shop disappeared a week after my order.

The radish sprouts got me, same thing happened with my "black" tulips last year.
