Overheard a seed seller say heirloom tomatoes are a waste of space...

I was at the farmers market in Portland last weekend and heard this guy argue with a customer that hybrids produce way more fruit per square foot and heirlooms are just for looks. On the other hand, my neighbor swears by her Brandywine tomatoes and says the flavor is worth the lower yield. Which side do you go with when you only have a 4x8 raised bed?

Read a study that said heirlooms actually have more nutrients than hybrids.

Squeeze in 4 hybrids and 1 heirloom plant and you get both quantity and flavor.
