My orchid refused to bloom for almost two years straight

I got this beautiful phalaenopsis as a gift back in 2022, and it just sat there with green leaves, doing nothing. I tried moving it to different windows, changing my watering schedule, everything. The fix was so simple, I felt silly. It needed a bigger temperature drop at night than my warm apartment gave it. Once I started putting it on my cooler porch at night for a few weeks last fall, it finally shot up a spike. Has anyone else had a plant that just needed one very specific, weird thing to finally thrive?

Yeah, my peace lily did the same thing until I started using filtered water instead of tap.

Always figured orchids were just fussy about light and water, but the temperature trick actually makes a lot of sense.

Guess your orchid just needed a good night's sleep away from you.
