My monstera's aerial roots kept drying up and it turned out my $8 humidifier was doing literally nothing
Took me 6 weeks of misting twice a day and moving the thing around my apartment in Chicago before a guy at the plant swap asked if I'd checked the humidity with an actual gauge. Turns out my place sits at 22 percent in winter and the little humidifier only covers a 1 foot radius, so now I'm wondering if a pebble tray is even worth it or if I should just give up and get a $40 one.
This is the same thing that happened to me with my wifi router. Spent weeks moving it around, restarting it, reading forum posts at 1am, all because the guy at the store told me it would cover my whole place. Turns out a cheap gadget does a cheap job and nobody tells you that part. Same deal with those little air purifiers, the $30 ones clean like one square foot. We keep buying the small version of things hoping it will act like the big version. It never does. Get the $40 one, you already did the hard part by finding out the real number.
