I finally gave those 'talk to your plants' people a real shot after my basil kept wilting.
I read a study from the University of Missouri that showed plants respond to vibrations, so I tried playing my old radio in the greenhouse for a few hours a day. Has anyone else tried something like this and seen a real change?

Yeah, that Missouri study is really interesting. It made me wonder if the type of sound matters. I started leaving a podcast on for my seedlings, but switched to just calm music after a week. The ones with the podcast actually seemed more leggy and weak, like the constant talking stressed them out. Now I just play low volume classical or ambient stuff, and the growth is way more even. It might be less about talking to them and more about avoiding sudden, harsh noises.

Wait, you actually played a podcast for your plants?

Yeah, I tried that once too. My poor basil got a week of true crime podcasts before I noticed it looked sad. Johnp98, you're right to question it. I'm pretty sure my plant was begging for silence instead of hearing about unsolved mysteries. Now I just keep them away from the TV. They seem happier with quiet, or maybe some soft music like anna said.
