Can we talk about fertilizing orchids in bloom? I burned 4 roots figuring it out
I kept feeding my phalaenopsis every week while it was flowering, thinking it needed the extra push, and last March I pulled it out to find the root tips black and mushy. A woman at the Raleigh orchid show told me to cut back to every third watering while buds are open. Do you feed at all during bloom, or wait until the flowers drop?

I read somewhere that you should stop feeding once the first bud opens.
