Took me 2 years to nail corner miters, turns out the secret was just a sharper knife
Started binding at home in 2021 with a basic kit. Every single corner I did looked like a beaver chewed it. Watched every tutorial, tried bone folders, sanding, even different glues. Spent money on a decent press, tried those corner cutting jigs too. Finally last month I was at a weekend workshop and this older guy named Pete just said "your blade's dull, swap it every 3 corners, not every project". Switched to fresh scalpel blades mid-run and it was night and day. Twenty minutes of practice and my corners finally sit flat. Anyone else have a fix that was this stupidly simple, or was I just dense about it?
Did Pete say anything about blade angle when you cut, or was it just about keeping them fresh? Curious if you changed the way you hold the knife at all during that workshop.
