Finally got a clean edge on that marbled paper
I was hand-marbling some endpapers last week and the edges kept feathering out. On a whim, I tried sizing the paper with a 1:10 PVA solution before floating the colors, and the pattern stayed crisp. Anyone have a better sizing method for this?

PVA sizing is a messy shortcut that can ruin paper over time. It leaves a plastic film that yellows and gets brittle. Traditional gelatin or starch sizing gives a much more stable and archival result.

My buddy's old sketches are cracking apart now because he used PVA years ago.

Yeah, I had that same feathering problem. Switched to a thin wheat starch paste for sizing and it worked way better for me.
