Took 3 tries to figure out my book club voting app was rigging the polls

We use a silly little voting app for choosing monthly reads and I kept losing by one vote to the same boring historical fiction. Turns out the app was counting my own test votes wrong, I wasted a whole week blaming the other members. Finally reset it in about 15 minutes last Tuesday and suddenly my pick for the Patricia Highsmith novel won 6 to 4. Has anyone else's club had a voting system that secretly worked against them?

Wait, are you sure the app wasn't counting your test votes as actual votes the whole time? Because that would mean you might have been voting against yourself without knowing it, and that's a weird bug to just stumble on. Did you check if other members had the same issue, or was it only affecting your account?
