That librarian who said 'skip the prologue' was right about one book
Picked up a fantasy novel last month. 500 pages. Started with a 40 page prologue about some war from 1000 years ago. Boring stuff. My friend at the library told me to skip it. Said authors dump too much history there. She was dead on. The actual story started on page 41. Makes me wonder how many books I quit too early because of a bad prologue.

My buddy skipped a prologue once and accidentally read the last chapter first, total disaster.

Wait they actually read the end first? That's brutal.

Oh man, I gotta disagree with you both a little bit! lmao. I actually think reading the end first can be a good move sometimes, @nguyen.tara. Like, if it's a stressful book and I need to know things turn out okay, I'll peek at the last page just to calm my anxiety. It spoils the plot details but everyone reads for different reasons, you know? I'd rather enjoy the journey without worrying about some tragic twist the whole time.
