Swapped my slow reading for audiobooks during commute and it changed book club prep
I used to force myself to read every word of a book before book club meetings, sitting down for hours after work. That stopped about 3 months ago when I got a new job with a 45 minute drive each way. Now I grab the audiobook from Libby and listen during the drive plus when I'm washing dishes or walking my dog. Last month for our discussion on Project Hail Mary I finished the whole thing in 4 days just from car time. The weird part is I actually remember more details now because I'm not fighting to stay awake at 10pm. My friend Sarah said I sounded way more engaged during the last debate about character motivations. Has anyone else had better luck with their book club picks after switching formats like this?

That bit about "way more engaged" is interesting because I've noticed the same thing with podcasts and news lately - hearing someone's voice adds a layer that just reading doesn't give you.

Oh totally... my own voice puts me to sleep though.
