PSA: I wasted $45 on that 'lifetime warranty' book light that died in 3 months

I bought this fancy clip-on book light from a brand that promises it'll last forever (you know the one) for book club late-night reading sessions, and after maybe 20 uses the battery just stopped holding a charge. Customer service said the warranty only covers manufacturer defects, not battery degradation, so basically I'm out the cash and back to using my phone flashlight. Has anyone found a cheap reading light that actually holds up for more than a few months?

Honestly, I feel your pain. I once bought a "lifetime warranty" headlamp for reading in bed, proud of my smart purchase, and the strap snapped on the third night while I was trying to find the remote. Tried to fix it with a hair tie and a paperclip, but that just gave me a headache and a sore scalp. Ngl, my phone flashlight has been the only reliable option too, and it's free. I'm convinced these companies think battery death doesn't count as a "defect" just because it happens slowly.

@charles_kelly43 oh man that headlamp story is too real lol. I had the same thing happen with a so called "heavy duty" reading light I got off Amazon. The clip broke within a week so I tried to tape it to my headboard which just made it fall on my face at 2am. Phone flashlight is basically the only thing that hasn't let me down honestly. And yeah they totally get away with it by calling normal wear and tear a "defect" when it's clearly just cheap garbage.
