Our group kept arguing about the main character's motive in 'The Silent Patient'
I realized we were all missing a key detail from page 47 about her childhood sketchbook. It changes the whole debate about whether her silence was choice or trauma. Has your club ever had a fight over a single page like that?

Oh man, that sketchbook detail is a total game changer, isn't it? We had a blowout over a single line in a Donna Tartt book once, someone read it totally wrong and the whole argument went off the rails for a week. It's wild how one tiny thing can flip the whole book on its head. Makes you want to go back and re-read everything.

Totally get what you mean about a single line flipping the whole book. That sketchbook thing @sage_martin22 mentioned is exactly why I keep a reading journal now. I just jot down page numbers and my gut reaction when something big happens. It stops those week long blowouts because you can point right to where your take came from. Makes re-reading way more interesting too, you can see how your first thought changed. What do you usually do when a detail changes everything for you?

That reading journal idea from @hunt.quinn is smart. I usually just stop and stare at the wall for a minute when a line hits like that. Lets the new meaning really sink in before you move on.
