My sister argued that our book club should drop the 'no spoilers' rule for classics

We were talking about 'Pride and Prejudice' last Tuesday. She said everyone already knows Darcy and Elizabeth get together, so spoilers don't matter for old books. I think knowing the ending changes how you read the journey. What's your take on spoiler rules for famous stories?

Actually agree with your sister for once. The whole point of classics is how they get there, not the basic plot. Knowing Romeo and Juliet die makes the play more tense, not less. Spoiler rules just protect lazy twists in new stories. With old books, we should talk freely about the whole thing.

Remember my friend who got mad when I told her how Moby Dick ends, annas87.

But people still get mad about it, so maybe it is a big deal.
