My book club ripped apart how I pick our monthly reads and honestly they were right
I've been the one picking books for our group of 9 for about two years now and I always went with whatever was on the bestseller table at Barnes and Noble. Last month during our chat about a 700 page historical novel that only 3 people finished, our quietest member, Dana, said straight up that my picks were "safe and boring" and nobody wanted to say it. That stung but she had a point, so I switched it up and had everyone submit one book under 300 pages with a main character who isn't like them. We just did our first meeting with that system last Tuesday and 8 out of 9 people showed up having finished the book, which is a record for us. How do you all handle the person who always picks the books in your club, do you rotate or let one person run it?
