Just hit 50 books in a year for the first time, but I feel like I rushed them
One side says the number proves I'm dedicated, but the other side argues I probably missed depth and nuance by reading that fast. Which matters more in a book club, quantity of discussion or quality of reflection?

Focus on quality, not your reading speed.

But speed is how you find what's worth reading in the first place.

Remember hearing about a study on this. They found people who skim a lot end up with shallow understanding. You miss the good parts when you're just racing through. Speed helps you filter, but then you have to slow way down for the stuff that matters. Otherwise you're just collecting titles and summaries without really getting it.
