Got called out at our Portland book club for only picking short books
Last year a member named Dana said my picks were all under 250 pages so we never got into anything meaty. I was mad at first, but she had a point, so now each member gets one long pick per quarter. We just did a 600 pager and the talk was way better. How do you all balance short reads with the chunky ones?
Wait, 600 pages? That's a whole different level. I can't even imagine getting everyone in my club to agree on something that long without a mutiny. We tried a 400 pager once and half the group showed up admitting they skimmed the last 100 pages.
