Bickford vs Crockford in the last book club meeting - huge split on which was better

Last week our club debated Bickford's 'The Fall' versus Crockford's 'The Rise' for our monthly pick and it got heated fast. Half the room loved Bickford's tight character focus, the other half said Crockford's broader social scope was way more relevant. Which side would you land on and why?

Forty people at my local book club and it was a straight 20-20 tie on this exact debate last month. I see this same split everywhere now, like when my neighbors argue over whether to fix up the old park or build a new skate park instead. Bickford's smaller story feels more true to how people actually live their lives, while Crockford tries to explain the whole world around us and misses the small moments that matter most. Isn't that the real question, whether we find meaning in close up details or wide open landscapes?
