Dropped a 4-foot level off a scaffold last Thursday

Working at a refinery out near Baton Rouge and I had my 4-foot Stabila up on the scaffold with me while I was marking out a header. Turned around for one second to grab my chalk line and heard that awful metal-on-concrete sound. Level hit the ground from about 25 feet up and the vial just shattered instantly. Had to borrow a crappy used one from the foreman for the rest of the shift and my lines were all off by a hair. How do you guys keep your expensive tools safe when you're working up high in tight spots?

Man I felt that one just reading it. I once dropped a brand new laser level off a ladder and watched it bounce three times before I even got to the ground.

Buddy of mine had a brand new cordless drill land right in a bucket of drying mud.

Yeah that laser never bounces right after the third hit.
