Been using the wrong bevel angle on my grinder for years, just found out
I was working on some 3/4 inch plate in the shop yesterday, and a new guy from the Philly local asked why my sparks looked so wild. He showed me how a 15 degree angle, not the 30 I'd been using, gives way more control and less chatter on the cut. How many other basic things have I been doing wrong this whole time?

Reminds me of my buddy who used a drill press as a sander for like a year. He'd just clamp a sanding block to the table and hold the wood against it. Worked okay until a real woodworker saw him and nearly had a heart attack. He had no idea about the right speed or anything, just made it up.
