Yeah, asking them to order stuff is a solid move. I got my local spot to start carrying a few war games that way. You have to be really specific though, like give them the exact title and publisher. Sometimes they'll even set a copy aside for you when it comes in.

Ugh, the old mall hobby shop turning into just Magic and Funkos is the worst. I've seen that happen at three different stores near me. You gotta check if there's a local game store in a strip mall or downtown, they usually have a real board game wall. My spot started doing a weekly board game night, which is how I found my new group. It's worth asking the staff at the old place if they'd order specific games for you, sometimes they just need to know there's interest.

Right? It's like they're allergic to stocking anything that doesn't come in a blind box or need a deck protector. My local spot's entire "board game section" is just Monopoly and Cards Against Humanity now.
