Update: My board game buying freeze after the closet collapse

I stopped snagging new titles cold turkey when my game storage literally fell apart last month. One side says this discipline saves cash and reduces shelf clutter. The other side claims I'm ignoring fresh fun and falling behind our group's meta. How do you balance addiction to new games with actually playing your old ones?

Honestly, if your closet gave up on life, that's a pretty clear sign to slow your roll on new games. I get the thrill of a new box, but that crash was your stuff telling you to play what you already own. From what I've seen, groups chasing every new release burn out fast because they never learn the games they have. My own pile of shame shrank when I forced myself to stop buying and start playing, and it made game nights way better. Sure, you might miss a few hits, but most new games are just okay anyway. Stick with your freeze, rebuild your storage right, and enjoy the games you loved enough to buy in the first place.

Doesn't it get old only playing stuff you already own?

Pile of shame shrank" is the real truth. Seeing my own collection get smaller instead of bigger changed everything for me. What's one game you're glad you finally played instead of bought?
