That moment last week when my wife called out my board game storage system
I spent 3 hours last Sunday organizing my collection by mechanic type (worker placement, deck building, etc.) in a shelving unit I built myself. My wife walked in and said 'So you're telling me Spirit Island goes next to Splendor because of the strategy layers?' and it made me realize how insane our hobby looks to normal people. Has anyone else had a friend or family member question your sorting method and make you second-guess your whole system?

Man, that "normal people" part hit me hard. My buddy Dave spent a whole weekend sorting his games by player count AND box color. His girlfriend walked in, looked at it, and said "So Ticket to Ride is with Mysterium because they're both BLUE?" He just stood there for a solid 10 seconds with his mouth open. He told me later he actually reorganized everything by alphabetical order just to avoid the argument. But now he says he hates it because he can never find anything.

Honestly, I'd tell Dave to just lean into it. My wife calls my sorting system "the chaos method" but I learned to explain it like "this shelf is games you can teach in 2 minutes, this one is for when we have 4 hours." It's not about pleasing them, it's about being able to find Scythe when you need it without a 20 minute search.
