That $60 board game insert I bought is collecting dust in my closet
I got a fancy wooden organizer for Terraforming Mars last year thinking it'd speed up setup, but it actually takes longer to sort pieces into the tiny trays than it did just bagging them up. Anyone else spend good money on an accessory that made things worse?

Those Terraforming Mars organizers are tricky because the game has so many tiny cubes and tokens. I did the same thing with my copy, bought a foldable insert from Go7 Gaming and it ended up being more hassle than it was worth. My advice is to try using the insert only for the player pieces and leave the resource cubes in baggies. That way you still get a little organization without the sorting headache. Your mileage may vary though, some folks love those granular trays.

Wait, is Go7 Gaming the right name for that insert? I thought they were one of the bigger companies like The Broken Token or Folded Space that makes Terraforming Mars organizers. I remember looking at their stuff and Go7 doesn't ring a bell for the foldable ones.
But anyway, you're totally right about the baggie trick. I do the same thing with the resource cubes. I keep all the player cubes and markers in the insert slots but the basic money and steel just go in a little plastic bag. Saves so much time setting up and tearing down.

Right because Go7 Gaming totally sounds like the name of a company that makes inserts and not like a password I'd come up with in middle school. I will say though, the baggie trick works way better than those fancy organizers for the basic resources because nobody's got time to put 50 little green cubes back into individual slots after a four hour game. The player cubes in the slots is fine since you only need a few per color, but the rest can just swim around loose in a ziploc like the wild animals they are.
