Stopped by a game cafe in Portland last weekend and half the tables were playing 20 year old euros instead of new stuff.
It got me thinking about how the hobby used to be all about those heavy strategy games before the Kickstarter era took over, has anyone else noticed the old titles making a comeback at your local spots?

Wait, half the tables? That's wild. Portland's usually on the bleeding edge of new stuff. I figured game cafes there would be all about the latest hotness from Essen.
But no joke, I've seen the same thing at my spot in Denver lately. Puerto Rico and El Grande hit the table way more than I expected. People are tired of the 4 hour Kickstarter monstrosities with 300 miniatures.
There's something about those old euros. They are just clean. No chrome needed, no fancy components. Just good solid game design that holds up after all these years.

That "no chrome needed" part hits the nail on the head.
