Pro tip: Dont ever let a stranger "help" set up your board game at a con
Guy at PAX South last year grabbed my copy of Scythe and started laying out tiles completely wrong. I spent 20 minutes undoing his mess before we could even play and now I wont let anyone touch my games until Ive personally sorted all the components.

Ugh, I feel this so hard. What worked for me was I started bringing a little zippered pouch with my game's setup guide printed on a single folded sheet, and I just politely say "oh, I've got a system" and pull that out if anyone offers to help. I had a guy at Gen Con try to "help" sort my Terraforming Mars cards by color instead of by the actual expansion symbols, and I almost lost my mind. Now I just lay everything out myself while making small talk about snacks or something. It's awkward at first but way better than fixing someone else's mess for half an hour.

Wait, hold on. Someone tried to sort Terraforming Mars by COLOR instead of the symbols? That is honestly a new level of madness I wasn't prepared for. Like, did they even look at the cards or did they just see colors and think that's how the whole game works? I would have had to walk away for a minute to calm down before I said something I regretted. You are a stronger person than me for just smiling through that and talking about snacks. I think I would have just froze and stared at them until they stopped touching my stuff.
