My game group's campaign ended early because one guy kept arguing about the rules.
We were playing a legacy game in my buddy's basement last Saturday, about four hours in. The guy running the game got so mad about a rule interpretation he just packed up his pieces and left. Has anyone else had a regular group fall apart over something like that?

Man, that sounds rough. Was this a case of someone being a total stickler for the rulebook, or was the guy running the game just making up his own interpretations on the spot? The devil's always in the details with those blow-ups.

Wooowww putting the lid on the box? That's a bit dramatic for a board game, don't you think? Worst case you just flip the table and move on.

Yeah, I get where blakem37 is coming from. I used to be the guy who'd argue a rule for ten minutes if I thought I was right. Then I saw a game of Catan completely die because two people spent half an hour fighting over whether a road placement was legal. The host just quietly put the lid on the box and we all went home. That was it. Now I just let the game owner's call stand in the moment. You can look it up later, but in the middle of the game, keeping things moving is what actually matters.
