That $60 forge burner kit was a total waste

Bought a cheap burner kit off Amazon for $60 thinking I was saving cash. Thing barely got my forge past yellow heat after 20 minutes of running. Ended up spending another $40 on parts to fix it and still had to rebuild the whole thing myself. Anyone else get burned by those budget burner kits?

My buddy Mike grabbed a $55 kit from some random seller. Lit it up in his garage and the flare came out uneven, hot on one side cold on the other. Had to drill out the nozzle and weld a new air choke on. Took him two weekends to get it half decent. Said next time he'll just save for a proper one.

My $40 kit needed a brass elbow fitting swap before it worked right @daniel_lane30.

Yeah, "barely got my forge past yellow heat" pretty much sums up my experience too. I used to think a burner was just a burner and you could cheap out, but reading about @daniel_lane30's buddy having to weld a new air choke changed my mind. Honestly, I've tried the budget route myself and learned the hard way that those kits come with undersized nozzles and cheap regulators that just can't push enough gas. Took me messing with three different orifice sizes before I gave up and bought a proper one. Now I tell everyone, just save the headache and skip the cheap stuff.
